Antique Meiji Wood & Cast Iron Japanese Meiji Tansu Chest Cabinet with Bo Lock & Keys
Stunning antique Meiji period dark elm wood tansu chest with handwrought iron details and hardware. This unique chest also includes its original bo lock and its 19th century keys! Full length drawer across the top. Down the left side is series of four drawers, the middle two are behind a swing door with locking capabilities. To the right of these smaller drawers are three medium sized pull drawers, the top two have some sun damage and a scratch. These attributes are due to the bo locking bar that sits down the middle of the two drawers as a security measure during transportation. There is natural wear and tear on edges and the feet, nothing that doesn't come with owning a piece of furniture over 100 years old from the other side of the world. In great, sturdy condition for its age.
There are no wheels on this piece of furniture, the wheels in the photos are from our transportation methods and could not be removed in the photos. This piece sits firmly flat on the ground, there is no space between the bottom edge and the floor.
