Orbis Terrarum Nova Et Accuratissima Tabula

Moses Pitt, double hemisphere map based on Visscher's world map of 1658 and Van Loon's rare Zee Atlas 1661. Showing California as an island, a fabled lake where the Himalayas are at because they assumed there would be one for the source of the Ganges.

The map is Dedicated to the English King Charles II and illustrated with classical images. 

Excellent condition with overall toning and center crease, which has been reinforced by professional conservator. Measures 20.5" in x 24 .75". On board in cellophane.
