Beautifully hand painted Russian lacquer papier-mache box with hinged lid.

Black background with bright colors depicting a folk story showing a sleeping couple amongst trees under a crescent moon. A man on a horse to their right and a rearing horse to their left. Writing shown on lid, as photographed. Hinged lid of box opens to spacious red painted interior. Sticker at base. Measures 8" x 4" x 1 1/2" tall. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks, or repairs.
