Standing at two feet tall, this statue is a fantastic small scale reproduction of a Chinese terracotta warrior. The terracotta warrior army was first discovered in 1974 in the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. Located just outside of Xi'an and composed of an estimated 8,000 life sized statues, the terracotta army was intended to protect the emperor in the afterlife.
With his hair in a top knot, square toed shoes, long military robes, and kneeling stance, this figure is an example of the iconic "kneeling archer" type, of which there have been over 100 discovered. Traces of red and green allude to the fact that these statues would have originally been painted, though little pigment survives today.
This figure's head is designed to be detachable.
