OLEG STAVROWSKY Rustic Framed Oil Painting BIG WHEELS Keep On Turnin
'Big Wheels Keep on Turnin' by the renowned Western artist Oleg Stavrowsky (1927 - 2020) .
His work frequently focuses on the technical mechanics of the frontier—such as the intricate construction of wagons, stagecoaches, and tack—captured with fine detail and deep, rich color palettes. This is a prime example of his work.
Born in Harlem, New York, to Russian parents, Stavrowsky served in World War II and worked for decades as a successful commercial illustrator and graphic designer. After visiting the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City in 1969, he decided to completely pivot his career to painting Western themes full-time.
