OAXACAN Alebrije SQUIRREL Wood Carving Mexico Folk Art Figure Sculpture

Intricately hand painted wood Squirrel figure, made in Oaxaca, Mexico, traditionally known as Alebrije.

Whimsical stylized squirrel brightly hand painted with geometric designs.

Measures 11 1/2" tall x 4" x 12 1/2" including tail, 5" not including tail.

Tail is not attached (it's not supposed to be). It can be placed showing the blue or the white upward, I'm not sure which way is proper, but it works either way. .

Excellent condition. 

Signed at base "Catarino Carrillo Arrazola Oaxaca "and Mexico sticker attached.

Catarino Carillo is a recognized master artisan from the famed folk-art village of San Antonio Arrazola, Oaxaca a community globally celebrated for pioneering the Oaxacan wood carving tradition.
