Antique KPM (Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur or Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin, Germany) bright gilded porcelain cup and saucer with hand painted portrait of Martin Luther.

Martin Luther (1483-1546) was a German priest and theologist who launched the Protestant Reformation by posting his Ninety-Five Theses in 1517, challenging Catholic Church doctrines like indulgences. He translated the Bible into German, which standardized the German language and made scripture accessible to the public. Luther also developed theological teachings emphasizing faith alone for salvation, all Christians forming a holy priesthood, and the Bible as the sole source of divine knowledge.

Excellent condition for age, there is a repair at rim of cup, as photographed, No other chips, cracks, or repairs. Hallmark at each base, dating at 1800.
