Katsushika HOKUSAI Japanese Woodblock Print EJIRI in Suruga Province Mt Fuji

$50.00

"Ejiri in Suruga Province" by the renowned Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai,

Originally created around 1830–1832 as part of his famous series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, this is a 20th century print with publishers stamp along right side.

The scene depicts travelers on a banked road through a marsh being buffeted by a strong gust of wind, which carries off papers and a hat. Mount Fuji is visible in the background, contrasting the fleeting human drama with its serene, unshaken presence. Ejiri was a post-station on the Tōkaidō highway, an important transportation route in historical Japan.
