Japanese woodblock print by the artist Toyohara Kunichika (1835 - 1900), Chapter 1 from the Tale of the Genji in Modern Times or 54 Modern Feelings.

The Tale of Genji: Written in the early 11th century by Murasaki Shikibu, it is considered a classic literary piece depicting life at the Heian-era imperial court and the life and loves of the fictional Prince Genji. 

 Excellent condition, paper toning, lightly soiled at edges.
