Karl Ens Volkstedt German bisque plaque, after the painting "The Hunt of Diana" by Hans Makart.

Composition is based on a famous 19th-century painting showing the Roman goddess Diana, known for her association with the hunt, accompanied by her nymphs and hunting dogs.

Unglazed, matte porcelain rendered in high relief, where the figures stand out prominently from the background to create a three-dimensional effect. Stunning!

Comes with original frame, but it is not attached. The frame is in pretty good condition, showing some wear. The plaque is in excellent condition with hallmarks at back and original artist info in bisque at upper right.
