MANDALAY Period Burmese Gilt BRONZE Seated BUDDHA Figure Statue

Late 19th-century, antique gilt bronze Mandalay-style seated Buddha figurine from Burma, featuring the earth-touching bhumisparsha mudra or earth witness gesture. His right hand reaches down to touch the ground, representing the moment of overcoming temptation and reaching enlightenment.

Cast in bronze with gold gilding, displaying a soft patina from age. An archival inscription in Burmese script is visible across the front of the base.

Measures 11" tall x 8" 

Very good condition, has a chip at bridge of nose, as photographed.
