Chinese Green Glazed DOG Han Style Pottery Tomb Guardian Sculpture

Han Dynasty style, antique reproduction pottery sculpture of a dog. Green glazed terracotta dog stands on all fours with mouth agape. Measures 11" x 5" x 11 1/2" tall.

In ancient China, figures like this were placed in the tombs of elite citizens. They served as symbolic guardians intended to protect the deceased and drive away evil spirits in the afterlife.

Very good condition, repair at leg and hairline cracks at back, as photographed.
