Chinese Ming Hongzhi Style DRAGON & PHOENIX Delicate Yellow Bowl
Chinese Ming Hongzhi style imperial yellow glazed delicate porcelain bowl with dense incised dragon and phoenix patterns. The porcelain is almost egg shell thin and incredibly delicate.
This piece is not a genuine official kiln product from the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty, but more likely a high-quality imitation of official porcelain from local kilns during the Qing Dynasty period.
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, all-yellow-glazed porcelain (both inside and out are glazed in yellow) was strictly monopolized by the royal family. It was usually only used by the emperor and empress for daily use or for ancestral temple sacrifices. It was absolutely forbidden for ordinary people to use it privately, and it had extremely high class and noble symbolic significance.
This fine delicate bowl is incredibly unscathed consider its age and fragility. Shows some fleabite chips at rim and has some rough edges, but overall, I would consider excellent.
