The ball in mouth rattles when shaken. The rattling ball in a Foo Dog's mouth is a traditional feature designed to represent the "breath of the lion" or the "pearl of wisdom." Artisans skillfully carved the ball directly inside the mouth so it can spin freely but cannot be removed, showcasing their craftsmanship.
