Rare Bjorn Wiinblad Large Paper Mache Charger/Decorative Wall Plate

Marvelous large hand painted paper mache charger featuring the whimsical illustrations of Danish artist Bjørn Wiinblad. Likely originally intended as a store display for Rosenthal Porcelain, this rare decorative piece is reminiscent of black-figure pottery while still showcasing the distinctive hallmarks of Wiinblad's style. A round-faced woman in 19th century inspired attire lounges atop a galloping horse, ornamented with fanciful silver grey scrollwork and set against a bold orange and red background. Signed by the artist.
