Antique Tibetan Drinking Yak horn Chhaang for beer and wine drinking, circa 19th century .

Yak Horn is mounted in gilt copper decorated with lotus petals. The yak horn has a natural curved shape and a small funnel for filling the horn at the end. The fittings are decorated with wave-and ruyi-ornaments. Large eyelets, bounded with colorful wool knit strap. The Horn is used for carrying. Chhaang, a Tibetan beer brewed from barley, millet or rice grains and especially popular amongst men. It has relatively low alcohol content and is said to ease the harsh cold of the Himalayan Mountains. Beautiful patina.

Measures 20" x 5 1/2" x 22" including strap.
