Rare Taylor Tilery 1930's Exotic Bird Round Tile Table Arts & Crafts Side Table
This adorable and rare side table was designed by the Taylor Brothers who were well known in the Santa Monica area during the 1930s for their colorful and inventive ceramic tile tables. The tiles were made from local red-clay and depicted landscapes and monetary style patterns. This time period in Southern California was known as the "golden era of tile making", many tables such as this one came from this boom.
This table specifically is special due to its size, shape and subject. Most of the tables from this period are rectangular with floral geometric patterns. This one stands apart being round and depicting an exotic bird.
The oak base is carved into fun bubbled legs, and has four spokes meeting near the bottom of the legs. They join in the middle to hold up a finial.
