As found on Artsy: Jeffrey Hessing was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to the medieval village of Vence, France in 1980 and currently resides in Zhujiajiao Shanghai, China. His vivid landscapes and interiors convey the intensity of France's color and light, as well as the passionate way in which inhabitants of Provence savor every aspect of life. A student of American sculptor and printmaker Leonard Baskin, Hessing is strongly influenced by the Fauvist palette and their wildly expressive techniques. While Hessing has exhibited extensively throughout France, he has also exhibited in China, Monaco, South Korea, Switzerland, Slovakia, England, and has shown at the Pucker Gallery for more than 30 years. His travels have ultimately inspired his exotic landscapes and cityscapes.
