Antique DUTCH 19thc Wood TEA CADDY Box w/Inlaid Marquetry BIRD & Flower Design
Beautiful Dutch, 19th century marquetry inlaid dome-top box. Marquetry is a decorative technique where pieces of material, often wood veneers, are cut and assembled to create patterns on a surface. This box features floral branches with leaves and bird designs inlaid into a dark mahogany wood, set on round feet. Hinged lid opens to one compartment, most likely used to store tea, but could be used to hold any small trinkets. Inscribed Maartje at back.
Measures approximately 5 1/4" x 3 3/4" x 5 1/4" tall.
Excellent condition, key is missing. Light wear for age. Overall excellent.
