Chinese NYONYA Ware Famille Rose Porcelain Turquoise FLOWER & BUTTERFLY Bowl

Incredibly sweet antique Chinese Nonya or Nyona porcelain rice bowl with irregular waving rim. White backdrop showing a whimsical pink, yellow, and turquoise hand painted flower and butterfly motif. Inner bowl is a bright turquoise blue. Measures 6 3/4" wide x 2 3/4" tall. Excellent condition, light wear and chips to glaze. No major  chips, cracks, or repairs.

Chinese Famille Rose Nonya or Nyonya ware bowls are also known as "treasure bowls". This type of porcelain is characterized by it's pale or soft colors, often including pink. Nyonya ware specifically refers to the porcelain produced for the Peranakan Chinese communities in Southeast Asia, particularly Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. These bowls often feature bright colors and floral motifs, as seen here and were used for special occasions and family meals.
