As found: Asger Jorn (1914–1973) was a prolific Danish painter, sculptor, and writer for founding the avant-garde COBRA group in 1948 and his involvement with the Situationist International. Influenced by outsider art, primitive art, and his own upbringing in a fundamentalist Christian household, Jorn created abstract works with strong brushwork and color, such as The Timid Proud One. He was a boundary-breaking artist and theorist who sought to integrate art with everyday life and challenge societal norms.
