Gorgeous acrylic impasto painting by James Havard titled "Navajo Ground". Havard was a leading character in the abstract illusionism movement in the 1970s. 

This painting uses bright and striking thick layers of paint against cream backgrounds. Havard then scratches through some of these forms to create texture and depth on an otherwise 2D surface. He also uses spray paint to create shadows that bring the forms off the canvas even more, some even appear to be floating inches away. 

signed in pencil in the lower right hand corner and titled in the lower right.
