Mitsuhiro Unno was a largely self-taught woodblock print artist active during the mid-20th century. Born in Shizuoka prefecture, his work focused on the unvarnished realities of rural life. In the spirit of the Sosaku Hanga ("creative print") movement, his works were self-drawn, self-carved, and self-printed. Unno was an active member of the Shizuoka Print Society and an associate member of Nihon Hanga Kyokai from 1969. Today, Mitsuhiro Unno’s woodblock prints can be found in collections such as the British Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
