Indian CEREMONIAL Rajput Dhal SHIELD with Intricate Gold Painted Hunting Scenes

Incredible Rajput dhal shield. crafted in North India, most likely during the late 19th century to early 20th century. Made of hardened hide lacquered in black and richly decorated with gold gilt.

The center features a prominent golden sun medallion representing Surya, the Sun God, or a royal emblem—encircled by four mother of pearl bosses used to secure the holding straps on the reverse side. 

The inner ring depicts hunting animals, while the expansive outer rim is filled with incredibly finely detailed hunting scenes or courtly processions typical of regional Indian paintings.
