Chinese Qing Red and Brown Coromandel Sake Barrel Drum Table and Stools and Brass Ring Handles
Fabulous and intricately designed red and brown coromandel Chinese drum barrel table from the Qing dynasty. This table was originally used as a sake drinking table with four stools that are easily packed into the base of the drum for practical use. There are leaf shaped doors that hide the stools when they're not in use, the come out easily and are numbered (I've found that door #2 should be switched with door #3, they fit better that way). Even though this table was made to look like a drum, it does not play like one. The top panel is hard wood and comes with a round glass top custom cut to fit. The top of the table has a delicate design that spreads out in a circle, like a mandala, and reaches past the edge.
This table is low, so it's best used as a side table or coffee table. The glass top makes it easy to use as a display for other similarly styled art objects.
