African Yoruba Royal Hand Beaded Tribal Arm Chair with Floral Motif

Incredible Yoruba Royal chair, hand decorated in thousands of colorful glass beads. For the Yoruba, beads were closely associated with royalty and wealth. The ownership of large quantities of beads were displayed publicly to distinguish rulers from the rest. Furniture was one of the many objects that were encrusted in vibrant beads as a way to exhibit wealth and good fortune. 

This beaded arm chair has a bright turquoise background, with a floral motif of red, green and black. 

Good condition, prominent aesthetic areas are pristine. Some areas near the corners and bottom edges have some strands of beads pulling up. Some beads on the arm rest are fading in color.
