Antique Japanese hand forged iron Tsuba or sword hand guard. The tsuba would mounted between the sword's blade and grip to protect the user's hands during combat.

The design and craftsmanship suggest it is likely from the Edo period (1600-1868).

Measures 2 3/4" x 3"

Excellent condition with light wear.
