TIFFANY Rare Antique c1867 Sterling Silver NEOCLASSICAL Edward C Moore EPERGNE

$75,000.00

A superb Antique Tiffany Sterling Silver Epergne centerpiece with 2 side matching side bowls, all bowls being removable. Designed by Edward C Moore at the time of the Paris Exposition which put Tiffany and the American Style on the world stage for the first time.  Markings on the base indicate it was made in 1867 and purchased by our consignors great grandfather and descended in the family ever since.

It is an extremely rare and stunningly beautiful piece, certainly one of a kind at this date. The epergne stands on 4 reeded bow legs accented with flowers near the hoof foot and displaying Neo Classical female busts at the hip. 4 arched arms hold a removable double handed shallow bowl, which rest below the upper and larger center bowl. Each bowl with gold vermeil.  Clearly marked with design number underbase establishing authenticity and date of making.

The two complimenting side bowls each having 3 masks on single leg on round base, holding single bowl. Larger centerpiece, total height 24 1/2" x 15 1/2" (arm to arm) x 10 1/2". Each smaller piece, total height 13" x 16" (arm to arm) x 10 1/2". Total weight of 375.87 Troy ounces.

Stunningly beautiful condition, all arms straight and only one very minor dent to one bowl. Has ornate TI monogram. You can search for another 150 years and you will never find another piece like this. One of a kind and museum quality.
