Indo Portuguese fine carving of Christ the Good Shepherd most likely created in Goa.
The object is a carved pedestal that originally adorned a figure of the Christ Child as the "Good Shepherd." at top. He is usually depicted seated on a raised platform with his legs crossed.
On the lowest level, Mary Magdalene is shown in a cave. She lies on her right side, her head resting in her right hand, her left hand in front of her on an open book. Above and beside her are several carved animal figures, such as a cat or tiger and sheep.
Condition as is. Very good, but obviously missing the upper portion.
Measures 3 1/2" tall x 2 1/4" x 2"
