HENK PANDER Original Oil Painting on Canvas Signed 1993

$1,750.00

Gorgeous Henk Pander oil on canvas large painting, singed and dated '93 in the bottom right corner.

Painting depicts three different beheaded animal skulls surrounding an architectural drawing tool and one full deer skeleton in the back ground with a gas mask on. The bones are resting on a table with a blood red table cloth in the middle of the canvas. The red is also seen in the back ground, draping from the top of the canvas to behind the table. Pander's placement of the color red visually mirrors what blood spilling into a puddle around the skulls would appear to be.

It's useful to understand his work to know that Pander was heavily influenced by the political landscape of his time. He was often criticized for his gruesome and provocative depictions of war. As a child, he lived through the Nazi occupation of Holland, undoubtedly affecting his artistic expression.
