LADY WASHINGTON's RECEPTION Hand Colored Stipple Line ENGRAVING by AH Ritchie

$3,500.00
Lady Washington's Reception, (1867) A hand colored Stipple line engraving by Alexander Hay Ritchie (1822-1895) from a painting by Daniel Huntington which is in the Brooklyn Museum. The print itself measures 32" x 45", image measures 21.5" x 35.5". Unframed.

Depicted in the engraving are all the most prominent people of the time of our founding fathers. Although it is a composite of portraits, the pictures of all the people are accurate as compared to other paintings of them. I have added a diagram and guide of who everyone is which was originally published in Harper's Weekly Magazine in 1875.

This has been sent out for professional conservation as there were stains on the edges and the print had been laid down on press board. The print now is in very good condition. Very minor old marks along the very edge, but otherwise good color, no creases, tears or damage. a wonderful image.
