Federal Period Slant Front Flame Mahogany Desk
Late 18th or early 19th century Federal period slant front desk, beautiful flame mahogany with secondary wood we believe to be pine. Rectangular top with exposed dovetails above a slant lid opening. Fitted interior with nine drawers one of which is hidden behind geometric fan inlaid prospect door, flanked by two pullout column compartments. Below are four cascading dovetailed drawers with hand beaded trim and solid brass hardware. Raised on hand carved ball and claw feet. Solid bones and overall a lovely piece of American furniture history.
Minor cracking to front veneer, some damage along the molding of the middle drawer and some of the beaded trim is missing none of these affect the integrity of the piece. Worth noting the brass fixtures were polished by the previous owner leaving behind some caked residue, we've done our best to remove what we can, some elbow grease should do to remove the rest at your discretion.
