Albert Bierstadt (German/American, 1830-1902)

Beach scene with sailboat (Possibly San Francisco bay), oil painting on panel. Simple frame measures 15 1/2" x 21 1/2", painting measures 18 3/4" x 13". Signed at lower right.

Excellent condition, recently cleaned and in modern dark wood and gilt frame. Descended in the family from San Francisco area.

As found on AlbertBierstadt: Albert Bierstadt was a German American painter best known for his lavish, sweeping landscapes of the American West. He joined several journeys of the Westward Expansion to paint the scenes. He was not the first artist to record the sites, but he was the foremost painter of them for the remainder of the 19th century
